Konami Hints at Potential Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake and Next-Gen Ports

With the anticipated release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, Konami has fueled speculation about a possible Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) remake and its inclusion on PS5, Xbox, and other platforms.

Konami's recent comments to IGN regarding MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 suggest the possibility of an MGS4 remake alongside next-gen ports. While producer Noriaki Okamura acknowledged the significant fan interest and online chatter surrounding MGS4's potential revival, he remained cautious about confirming specifics.

"We definitely are aware of this situation with MGS4," Okamura stated. "Unfortunately, we can't really say too much at the moment... you can probably connect the dots! Right now, we still are internally concerned about what we should be doing for the future of the series. So sorry, we can't really reveal anything at the moment. But stay tuned!"

The possibility of an MGS4 remake for Master Collection Vol. 2 has been a recurring theme among fans, especially given the PS3 exclusive's absence from modern platforms. The successful release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 (featuring remastered versions of the first three games for PS5, Xbox, PC, and Switch) further strengthens this speculation.

Further fueling the rumors, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official Metal Gear Solid timeline, hinting at their potential inclusion in Vol. 2. IGN also reported on these listings, suggesting these titles are likely candidates for the upcoming collection. Adding to the intrigue, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media last November.

Despite the mounting evidence, Konami has yet to formally announce the contents of Master Collection Vol. 2 or confirm any plans for an MGS4 remake. The wait continues.
