Lara Croft Joins Dead by Daylight as Playable Character

Tomb Raider's iconic heroine, Lara Croft, is officially joining the Dead by Daylight roster! Behaviour Interactive has confirmed the long-rumored addition, bringing one of gaming's most enduring characters to the popular asymmetrical horror game. This exciting news follows recent additions like Vecna from Stranger Things and Chucky from Child's Play, solidifying Dead by Daylight's reputation for high-profile crossovers.

Dead by Daylight's Lara Croft, based on the 2013 reboot trilogy, will be playable on all platforms starting July 16th. However, PC players on Steam can enjoy early access via a public test build. While a gameplay trailer is yet to be released, Behaviour Interactive has described Lara as "the ultimate survivor," a fitting title given her history of daring adventures.

The announcement of Lara Croft was part of a larger Dead by Daylight 8th-anniversary livestream, which also revealed several other exciting updates:

  • A new 2v8 mode: Two Killers against eight Survivors!
  • The Casting of Frank Stone: A spin-off developed by Supermassive Games (creators of The Quarry).
  • A new Castlevania chapter: Coming later this year.

This influx of new content comes at a time of renewed interest in the Tomb Raider franchise. Aspyr recently released a remastered collection of the original Tomb Raider trilogy, and a new animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, featuring Hayley Atwell as Lara's voice, is slated for October 2024.
