Mai Shiranui Sparks Massive Interest in Street Fighter 6

In a thrilling update for fans, players have flocked back to Street Fighter 6 to test out the new fighter, Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. Street Fighter 6, Capcom's acclaimed fighting game, has sold an impressive 4.4 million copies as of December 31, 2024. While some fans have felt that the game has been light on content, the developers have recently delighted the community with the addition of a new character.

Mai Shiranui marks the third fighter introduced in the second season, significantly boosting the game's popularity. On the day of her release, Street Fighter 6 saw its peak concurrent players on Steam soar to over 63,000, a sharp increase from the previous peak of 24,000 to 27,000 players, marking the highest player count since May 2024.

Mai Shiranui is accessible to Battle Pass holders, allowing them to deepen their engagement with the game. In the World Tour mode, players can build relationships with Mai, learn her unique moves, and then put their skills to the test in the Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume for Mai has been introduced, drawing inspiration from her iconic look in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

The Battle Hub also welcomes a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a developer and legend in the fighting game community. Players can experience his presence in the game until March 10. Alongside these updates, Street Fighter 6 has introduced new ranks and rewards in the Master League, enhancing the competitive experience.

Capcom has released a trailer showcasing Mai Shiranui's impressive techniques, further fueling excitement among the fanbase.
