Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision

Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision to implement mid-season rank resets. The developer announced the change in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative reception of Dev Talk 10, which detailed the planned four-division reset every 45 days.
Players criticized the frequent resets as discouraging, particularly for those striving for higher ranks. In a significant about-face, Marvel Rivals confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will retain their current rank and score from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset, dropping players six divisions, remains in effect.
Human Torch, The Thing, and More Still Coming

Despite the rank reset reversal, other planned updates are proceeding as scheduled. The highly anticipated addition of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, is still on track. NetEase Games' commitment to releasing two new playable characters per three-month season remains unchanged.
Reward structures for high-ranking players also remain. Players who achieve Gold rank or higher will receive a free Invisible Woman costume. Grandmaster and above will receive Crests of Honor. Additional rewards, including another free costume and Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above, are planned for those reaching Gold at the season's end. Balance adjustments are also forthcoming, though specifics are yet to be revealed.
Community Feedback Drives Change

Marvel Rivals acknowledged the rapid and substantial community response to the initial rank reset announcement. The developer highlighted its commitment to player feedback, emphasizing that community input is crucial to the game's development and success. The quick turnaround from Dev Talk 10 to Dev Talk 11 demonstrates a willingness to listen and adapt.
The mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. Marvel Rivals is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for further updates on our Marvel Rivals page.
