"Medabots Survivor: Classic RPG Meets Bullet Heaven"

by Aaron Apr 02,2025

If you've been keeping up with the latest global game releases, you might be disappointed to hear about another title that's currently out of reach. Medabot Survivors, a new addition to the beloved robot role-playing series, is set to launch on February 10th. This mobile game introduces fans to a thrilling bullet heaven action experience, but it's currently available only in Japan on iOS and Android devices.

As reported by Gematsu, Medabots may ring a bell for those of us who grew up during the post-Pokémon craze. In the wake of Pokémon's massive success, there was a rush to bring other Japanese franchises with merchandising potential to the West. While Digimon managed to carve out its own niche (and some argue it even surpassed Pokémon), Medabots never quite managed to capture the same level of popularity outside Japan.

Back in its home country, however, Medabots has enjoyed significant success, making it a major player in the gaming scene. It's no surprise, then, that the franchise is venturing into the Survivors-like genre, which has been gaining traction worldwide. Unfortunately, for now, Medabots fans outside Japan will have to wait patiently as the game remains exclusive to the Japanese market.

Surviving the Survivors
While the term "Survivors-like" may be relatively new, the genre itself predates the popular game Vampire Survivors. The release of Medabot Survivors is not only a treat for fans but also an interesting development as we watch this genre spread globally.

Having gained some insight into the Japanese gaming scene, I can confirm there are many excellent releases that might never make it to international markets. However, if Medabot Survivors proves to be a hit, there's hope that it might eventually reach fans worldwide.

In the meantime, if you're eager to explore upcoming releases you can play right now, don't miss our latest feature in Ahead of the Game, where Catherine Dellosa delves into the delightful world of Cat Restaurant.
