MultiVersus to Conclude Operations After Season 5

Warner Bros. Games has announced the impending closure of MultiVersus, its popular platform fighter, following the completion of its fifth and final season. The game's official channels confirmed the shutdown date as May 30th, 2025.
Season 5's Finale
The final season, commencing February 4th, 2025, will introduce Aquaman and Lola Bunny as playable characters, both obtainable through gameplay. All in-game purchases of Gleamium, the premium currency, have ceased as of January 31st, 2025, though remaining Gleamium can be used until the game's closure. Following Season 5's conclusion, MultiVersus will be removed from all digital storefronts (PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store). No official reason for the shutdown has been provided.
Offline Play Option

A silver lining for players is the availability of an offline mode. Players who download the latest version of MultiVersus between February 4th and May 30th will retain access to a local gameplay mode, enabling solo play against AI or multiplayer matches with up to three friends. This offline access will include all earned and purchased content. The game will automatically create a local save file linked to the player's online account.
A Short but Action-Packed Run

Initially launched in July 2022 as a public beta, MultiVersus quickly gained traction as a free-to-play platform fighter, drawing comparisons to Super Smash Bros. A relaunch in May 2024 introduced new features, including characters, rollback netcode, and a PvE mode. Despite these improvements, the game faced challenges, including technical issues and reported player count declines. At its closure, MultiVersus will boast a roster of 35 characters.
The developers expressed gratitude for the community's support throughout the game's lifespan. MultiVersus remains available for download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC until its official shutdown on May 30th, 2025, at 9 AM PDT.
