Capcom Unveils New Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay Featuring Miyamoto Musashi
Capcom has treated fans to fresh gameplay footage of its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The reveal, part of the PlayStation State of Play showcase, not only showcased impressive sword-based combat and formidable foes but also confirmed the legendary Miyamoto Musashi as the game's protagonist.
The trailer highlighted Musashi's unparalleled swordsmanship, alongside glimpses of his mischievous and humorous personality. Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Interestingly, Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the late Toshiro Mifune, a renowned Japanese actor known for his portrayal of Musashi in various samurai films.
The game is set in a Kyoto overrun by Malic, an evil entity summoning demonic forces from Hell. This marks the first new Onimusha game in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
