Outer Worlds 2 Development Update: Smooth Sailing Despite ChallengesObsidian Entertainment's CEO, Feargus Urquhart, recently provided a positive update on the development of The Outer Worlds 2, assuring fans that progress is going smoothly despite past challenges. This update comes alongside news about their other projects, including the highly anticipated fantasy RPG, Avowed.

Obsidian's Confidence in Upcoming Titles

In a recent interview with Limit Break Network, Urquhart highlighted the dedicated team behind The Outer Worlds 2, many of whom worked on the original title. He expressed his confidence in their ability to deliver a high-quality sequel.

The studio openly acknowledged the hurdles they faced, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic and post-Microsoft acquisition. Juggling multiple projects, including Grounded and Pentiment, put a strain on resources. Urquhart admitted a period of slowed development, even considering pausing The Outer Worlds 2 to focus on Avowed. However, the decision was made to persevere with all projects.

Obsidian's Multi-Project Development Challenges"We were acquired, then Covid hit, and we were simultaneously trying to finish Outer Worlds, its DLC, advance Avowed, restart Outer Worlds 2, and keep Grounded and Pentiment moving," Urquhart recalled.

The results, however, speak for themselves. Grounded and Pentiment were both successful, Avowed is shaping up well, and Urquhart described The Outer Worlds 2 as "looking incredible." While specific game details remain scarce, the delay of Avowed to 2025 suggests potential timeline adjustments for other projects.

Positive Outlook for The Outer Worlds 2Announced in 2021, The Outer Worlds 2 has seen limited updates, leading to speculation about potential delays. Urquhart acknowledged this possibility but reaffirmed Obsidian's commitment to delivering exceptional games. He confirmed that while initial timelines may not be met, the studio is dedicated to releasing both The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed on PC and Xbox Series S/X. The statement "We will get there with all these games" underlines their commitment to quality over strict deadlines.
