The eagerly anticipated second Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft has faced an unexpected delay due to unforeseen issues. Although the event was initially slated to return on January 14, 2025, with exciting pirate-themed battle royale gameplay and a mix of original and new rewards, players will have to wait a bit longer. World of Warcraft aims to have Plunderstorm up and running before the end of January 14, but no specific new launch time has been disclosed yet.
The delay was announced during an extended server maintenance period, originally set for six hours but stretched to eight. The community manager, Kaivax, shared the update on the official forums, explaining the situation and expressing hopes to resolve the issues swiftly. While the servers for the main game are back online, players can continue engaging with other content in World of Warcraft, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies and participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event within The War Within.
The second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces new elements like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface, which might be contributing to the current delays. Fans are hopeful that these issues will be sorted out soon so they can dive back into the action.
In the meantime, the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are already live, allowing players to earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft stream on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST. Notably, the content creator does not need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to earn this reward, giving fans something to look forward to while they await the game mode's return.
