"Pokemon GO Adds Long-Awaited Feature in Limited-Time Event"

Pokemon GO enthusiasts are in for a treat during the upcoming Fashion Week: Taken Over event. Niantic has announced that for the first time, players can utilize remote raid passes in Shadow Raids, a feature that has been highly anticipated since Shadow Raids were introduced to the game in 2023. This exciting update comes as part of a series of enhancements for the augmented reality game in 2025, which also includes the return of Ralts for the second Pokemon GO Community Day in January.

The Fashion Week: Taken Over event is scheduled to run from Wednesday, January 15, at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. During this period, trainers can participate in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids either in person or remotely. This opportunity not only allows players to engage in battles from the comfort of their homes but also increases their chances of capturing Pokemon with higher IV stats, enhancing their gameplay experience.

Pokemon GO Temporarily Introducing Remote Raid Passes for Shadow Raids

A highlight of the event is the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid day on January 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, where players can use their remote raid passes to battle and have a boosted chance of catching a shiny shadow Ho-Oh. Additionally, trainers can teach this powerful Pokemon the charged attack Sacred Fire and use a Charged TM to help Shadow Pokemon forget the move Frustration.

The introduction of remote raid passes for Shadow Raids has been one of the most requested features by the Pokemon GO community. However, it's important to note that this feature will only be available during the Fashion Week: Taken Over event. Once the event concludes, players will no longer be able to use remote raid passes in Shadow Raids.

It remains uncertain whether Niantic will make this feature a permanent addition to the game. Given the criticism the developers have faced regarding the need for in-person gatherings for Dynamax and Gigantamax battles, many fans hope that remote raid passes for Shadow Raids will become a staple in Pokemon GO, offering more flexibility and accessibility to players worldwide.
