Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege X: A Major Update, Not a New Game

Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, not as a new game, but as a significant upgrade to the nine-year-old Rainbow Six Siege. This major overhaul was announced on February 17, 2025, with a dedicated showcase planned for March 13, 2025.

The March 2025 Showcase

The Rainbow Six Siege X showcase, taking place at 10:00 am (PDT) / 1:00 pm (EDT) in Atlanta, Georgia, promises an immersive experience. Attendees will witness the extensive gameplay changes, refined mechanics, and other surprises. In-person attendance requires a USD $10 ticket, including an exclusive shirt and in-game cosmetic items. Eligibility is restricted to legal residents of the USA and Canada, aged 18 or older, with an unbanned Rainbow Six Siege account.

A VIP package giveaway, including travel and accommodation, is also available for two lucky fans from the USA and Canada.

The update promises "new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel, and major upgrades." Specific details will be revealed during the showcase.

Rainbow Six Siege's 10th Anniversary and Season 1

Initially launched on December 1, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC (later ported to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), Rainbow Six Siege celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025. Season 1, titled "Operation Prep Phase," launching March 4th, introduces a new operator, Aurora (with deployable bulletproof doors), a new elite skin for Aruni, and a revised reputation system.

Given the timing, the major Rainbow Six Siege X upgrades will likely be implemented on live servers after the March showcase. This significant update promises to extend the lifespan of this long-running live-service shooter.
