Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team.
The studio faced significant hurdles in 2024, struggling to maintain Suicide Squad despite its poor reception. Warner Bros. reported approximately $200 million in losses from the project. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.
These job cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also experienced layoffs, losing 99 employees.
The game's early access launch exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major plot spoiler revealed through a game glitch. Gameplay also drew considerable criticism from reviewers, leading to a massive surge in refund requests—a 791% increase according to McLuck analytics.
Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
