Genshin Impact Leak Hints at Wriothesley Rerun in Version 5.4
A recent leak suggests Wriothesley's long-awaited return in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, over a year after his initial appearance. This news comes amidst ongoing concerns about the game's character rerun schedule, complicated by the vast roster of over 90 playable characters and limited banner slots. The current system struggles to provide equitable rerun opportunities for all limited 5-star characters.
While the introduction of the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this issue, its effectiveness remains debated. The lengthy wait for Shenhe's rerun (over 600 days) highlights the persistent challenge. Until the implementation of triple banners, extended rerun intervals are likely to continue.
Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, exemplifies this problem. His absence from Event Banners since November 8, 2023, has left many players eager for his return. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, indicates his inclusion in Version 5.4's Event Banners. This is further supported by the recent Spiral Abyss buff, which directly benefits his playstyle.
However, caution is advised. Flying Flame's track record regarding Natlan leaks is mixed. While their prediction of a new Chronicled Banner in Version 5.3 proved accurate, other leaks have been inaccurate.
Version 5.4 is also anticipated to feature Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are part of the Event Banners, the remaining 5-star slot might feature either Furina or Venti, given their sequential rerun pattern for Archons. Version 5.4's projected launch date is February 12, 2025.
