In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Druckmann shared that "pretty brutal" scenes from the game's Lost Levels, which were partially restored in the PlayStation 5 remaster, will be brought to life in the show. These levels include Jackson Party, The Hunt, and Seattle Sewers. The first two offer a more subdued experience with Ellie attending a party and tracking a bleeding boar, respectively, while the third plunges viewers into intense horror as Ellie navigates monster-filled tunnels beneath Seattle.

The inclusion of this cut content promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Druckmann expressed his excitement, stating, "\[It's\] pretty brutal, but I'm very excited for people to see it." He also hinted at the introduction of a "pretty prominent" character, previously only mentioned in the game, drawing parallels to the approach taken with Frank in Season 1.

Season 2 will introduce several new characters to the fold, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel, among others.
