EA's The Simpsons: Tapped Out, a long-running mobile city-builder, is shutting down. After a twelve-year run, the game will be unavailable for download starting October 31st, 2024, with servers finally going offline on January 24th, 2025. In-app purchases have already been disabled.
The End of an Era
EA expressed gratitude to players for their decade-plus of participation in building their own Springfield. The collaboration with The Simpsons and The Walt Disney Company brought a unique experience to mobile gaming.
One Last Chance to Play?
For those yet to experience the game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out lets players rebuild Springfield after Homer's accidental nuclear meltdown. Players manage the town's reconstruction, interacting with beloved characters like Marge, Lisa, Bart, and even Fat Tony, unlocking various outfits and expanding the town to Springfield Heights, even managing the Kwik-E-Mart.
The freemium game frequently featured updates tied to the show and real-world events. While the game itself is free, "donuts" serve as the in-game currency driving progression.
