The first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering players an early glimpse into the much-anticipated Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive have shared that these preliminary patch notes for the PTS version encompass "most" of the features slated for Update 7.0. However, they caution that the final 7.0 patch notes may differ as the development team continues to refine and address bugs.
For PC players participating in the PTS, there's a wealth of new content to explore, which is currently exclusive to the PC platform and not available on consoles. Update 7.0 introduces a new PvE mission named Exfiltration, a new secondary weapon—the Inferno Pistol, available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes—and introduces prestige ranks in PvE, as well as private PvP lobbies.
Enthusiasts of Warhammer 40,000 will appreciate the new customization options, including fresh colors like Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with the ability to recolor Bulwark cloth and hands. Additionally, PvP rewards have been enhanced by 50%. The PTS also introduces new champion skins: an Imperial Fists Champion for the Tactical class and a Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.
Significant balance changes have been made, notably expanding the weapon arsenal in PvE, allowing all classes access to a broader range of weapons. For instance, the Assault class can now wield the Power Sword without needing mods. Players should review the detailed patch notes to fully understand the adjustments made to Space Marine 2’s extensive weapon list.
A notable quality-of-life improvement is the update to the Inferno Operation. If a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, other players will now be automatically teleported there after a short delay (receiving a notification 1 minute and 30 seconds before teleportation, which occurs 15 seconds later). This change addresses a long-standing griefing issue where players could stall progress by remaining outside the assembly area.
Recent developments also include teasers for the upcoming Horde mode, and the developers have clarified their stance against adopting a live service model, responding to community concerns about 'FOMO' (Fear Of Missing Out) events. Earlier in the year, Saber Interactive addressed player frustrations regarding content scarcity and outlined their plans for future updates.
Here is a detailed look at the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Update 7.0 PTS Patch Notes:
Extended Weapon arsenal in PvE: All classes now have a larger weapon choice.
Heavy Bolt Rifle: Reworked versions include:
Weapon Perks Update: Numerous adjustments and reworks to perks across various weapons, enhancing gameplay dynamics and strategic options.
These updates and improvements showcase the ongoing commitment of Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive to enhance the gaming experience for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 players.
