Unlike many games these days, there's only one edition of the Suikoden remaster available, so grab it if you want it.
Digital preorders and the Day One physical edition of the game come with a nice little bundle of in-game digital items to use if you want them. You'll get the following:
Potch is the in-game currency. A Fortune Orb doubles the experience gained by the player holding it. A Prosperity Orb doubles the currency a character receives from battles. The one other caveat is that the main character of the first Suikoden game can't hold both orbs at the same time. The more you know.
The first Suikoden game was released in Japan on the original PlayStation in 1995, with the sequel following in 1998 on the same platform. Both games made their way to the West a year after their Japanese release. Each game in the series focuses on recruiting 108 warriors to fight by your side, building up an army to combat the forces of evil.
Some remasters completely overhaul graphics, risking the loss of the original's charm. However, this remaster maintains the original pixelated graphics, now optimized for modern wide-screen displays. Spell effects have been enhanced for smoother visuals, and character portraits have been redrawn in HD.
In addition to the improved graphics, the remaster introduces several quality-of-life features such as the ability to speed up battles or enable auto-battle mode. It also includes auto-save functionality and a conversation log to prevent missing important dialogue. The user interface has been revamped, making tasks like changing equipment more intuitive.
