Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada has sparked rumors of his departure from Bandai Namco after 30 years with the company, known for the iconic Tekken series. The speculation began when a Japanese video game news account, Genki_JPN, shared a screenshot of Harada's LinkedIn profile on X (formerly Twitter). In the post, Harada indicated he is seeking new opportunities and positions such as Executive Producer, Game Director, Business Development, Vice President, or Marketing roles, all based in Tokyo. He also used the #OpenToWork hashtag and frame, which led to fans expressing concern over his future and the future of the Tekken series.
Quick to address the rumors on X (Twitter), where he maintains a significant presence, Harada clarified that he is not leaving Bandai Namco. His goal is to expand his professional network and engage with more industry professionals. He reassured fans by stating, "I meet a lot of people on a regular basis (but I don't actually have that many friends in my private world LOL), I just want to meet more people and expand my horizons in the future." Harada explained that enabling the #OpenToWork option on LinkedIn is a way to facilitate more conversations and connections within the industry.
With Harada's commitment to staying with Bandai Namco, fans can look forward to further developments in the Tekken series. Recent collaborations, such as the one with Final Fantasy 16 that introduced Clive Rosfield as a fighter and other characters like Jill, Joshua, and even Nektar the Moogle through skins and accessories, highlight the potential for more exciting additions to the franchise. Harada's efforts to broaden his network are likely to bring fresh ideas and collaborations to Tekken in the future.
