Abylight Studios has joined forces with Frictional Games to bring three chilling titles to the Nintendo Switch in 2025: SOMA, Amnesia: Rebirth, and Amnesia: The Bunker. Frictional Games, known for their groundbreaking work in the horror genre, has entrusted Abylight Studios with porting these games, thus expanding their eerie universes to the Switch audience.
Despite Frictional Games shifting their focus away from horror, their legacy in the genre remains strong, particularly with the Amnesia series. Fans eager for more horror on the Nintendo Switch will soon have the chance to experience the unique narratives and terrifying atmospheres of these three acclaimed games.
Following successful negotiations, both digital and physical editions of SOMA, Amnesia: Rebirth, and Amnesia: The Bunker are set to launch on the Nintendo Switch in 2025. SOMA delves into sci-fi horror, exploring themes of artificial intelligence and the essence of humanity. Amnesia: Rebirth brings back the classic gameplay elements fans love from the Amnesia series, while Amnesia: The Bunker immerses players in the harrowing setting of World War 1, challenging them to survive in a semi-open world filled with dread.
In addition to these new releases, a physical edition of the Amnesia Collection for the Nintendo Switch is slated to arrive later this year. This collection includes the critically acclaimed Amnesia: The Dark Descent, often hailed as one of the greatest horror games ever made, and its indirect follow-up, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, co-developed by Frictional Games and The Chinese Room. The gaming community is buzzing with excitement at the prospect of more horror titles on the Switch, although specific release dates for these ports have yet to be announced by either Abylight Studios or Frictional Games.
As the anticipation builds for these horror games on the Switch, many fans are also curious about the potential for more mature-rated releases on future Nintendo consoles. Stay tuned for updates on the release dates of these Frictional Games titles and other horror gaming news.
