How To Get The Type-40 Sword In NieR: Automata

To acquire the Type-40 Sword, you must complete the side quest "Find A Present," which is the final quest in a series linked to Operator 6O. Here's how to unlock this quest and secure the sword:

• After defeating Adam and Eve at the conclusion of Chapter 5, you'll receive a call from Operator 6O, initiating the side quest "Investigating Communications." This quest is easily missed, so be sure to complete it immediately.
• Continue the main storyline through Chapter 6, which involves the events of the Forest Castle, and into Chapter 7.
• After conversing with Pascal about A2 in Chapter 7, explore the city ruins until you receive another call from Operator 6O, prompting you to check your inbox at an access point to start the quest "Terminal Repairs."
• As you head back to the Resistance Camp in Chapter 7, you'll receive a final call from Operator 6O discussing flowers and sending you another message in your inbox.
