Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting new article that dives deep into the gameplay features of the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed: Shadows. The focus is on the equipment and progression systems for the two main characters, Yasuke and Naoe, with a spotlight on the enhanced functionality of the iconic Hidden Blade—a feature that fans are sure to love.
Yasuke and Naoe each boast unique skill trees that cater to their distinct combat styles. Yasuke, the samurai, will specialize in powerful samurai techniques, while Naoe, the shinobi, will harness the art of stealth and agility. Players can earn skill points by engaging with the open world, tackling objectives, or taking down formidable foes like the Daisyo samurai. These points can then be strategically allocated to unlock weapon-specific abilities or refine their fighting prowess.
To maintain a balanced gameplay experience, both characters will progress at a similar pace, ensuring neither is left behind. Unlocking the most potent abilities often involves engaging with the game's narrative, such as tracking down a mysterious shinobi group. Other upgrades are linked to the "Knowledge" system, which players can advance by studying ancient manuscripts or participating in spiritual rituals at shrines. Reaching the prestigious sixth rank of Knowledge unlocks an entirely new skill tree, adding depth to the progression system.
Ubisoft also detailed the equipment system, which categorizes items into five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Players can enhance their gear at a blacksmith, not only improving its stats but also customizing its appearance. Special perks on armor and weapons can significantly alter gameplay, offering strategic advantages in combat.
The beloved Hidden Blade makes a triumphant return, now more lethal than ever. With the ability to execute instant kills with a single strike, it remains the ultimate tool for any assassin. Assassin's Creed: Shadows is set to launch globally on March 20, available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, promising an immersive and thrilling experience for fans and newcomers alike.
