The March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria* introduces the much-anticipated opportunity to romance Caldarus, the dragon character. This guide provides detailed instructions on how to unlock his romance questline, along with information on his event details and gift preferences.

How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To romance Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Upon completing the offering, a cutscene will play where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or risk being sealed with the scroll. As the farmer's health depletes, Caldarus intervenes, transforming into his human form and granting you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods. In this form, you can engage in daily conversations and give gifts to Caldarus, similar to other dateable NPCs in Mistria.

After breaking the Fire Seal, Caldarus can be found exclusively at his temple in the Deep Woods. To permanently unlock this area on your map, you will need to use the Dragon’s Breath spell.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

Following the March 2025 update, Caldarus starts with six hearts upon becoming romanceable, which is the current heart level cap. Unfortunately, there are no additional heart events for Caldarus at the moment, though future updates may include them. Currently, there are only two cutscenes involving Caldarus: an introductory dream sequence at the start of the game, which showcases Mistria’s magic system and gameplay mechanics, and another where Caldarus saves the farmer from being sealed after breaking the Fire Seal, revealing his human form and retreating to his temple to recover.

The March 2025 update also enables you to trigger a date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival, which takes place on Summer 28.

The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in *Fields of Mistria* and offers the chance to take any romanceable NPC with four or more hearts on a date to the Summit to watch the stars. Since Caldarus starts at six hearts, you can automatically invite him. To attend the festival with Caldarus, gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet up afterward to start the event. This will initiate a cutscene of your date. During the event, Caldarus thanks you for the invitation, discusses the stars and the historical Starbinding tradition, and engages in deep conversations about connections and souls. The dialogue includes existential topics and hints at past lives, culminating with an invitation to spend the rest of the evening at his temple watching the stars.
