Saber Interactive is deploying hotfix 4.1 for Space Marine 2, directly addressing negative player response to the nerfs introduced in Patch 4.0 last week. The developers have also announced the upcoming launch of public test servers in early 2025.

Patch 4.1, arriving October 24th, will revert the "most critical" balance adjustments from Patch 4.0. Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko stated, "We've been closely monitoring player feedback since Patch 4.0 and are addressing the most pressing concerns with this new balancing update." The decision to implement public test servers stems from a desire to incorporate player input more effectively going forward.

The negative reaction to Patch 4.0 was significant, including negative Steam reviews. Many players felt the nerfs made the game unfairly difficult. Saber Interactive clarified that Patch 4.0 aimed to increase enemy encounters rather than simply boosting enemy health, but acknowledged this negatively affected easier difficulty levels.

Specifically, Patch 4.1 will revert Extremis enemy spawn rates to pre-Patch 4.0 levels across Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties, with significant reductions on Ruthless difficulty. A 10% armor increase for players on Ruthless difficulty and a 30% damage buff for bots against bosses are also included. Furthermore, the hotfix significantly buffs Bolt weapons:

  • Auto Bolt Rifle: +20% damage
  • Bolt Rifle: +10% damage
  • Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15% damage
  • Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10% damage
  • Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10% damage
  • Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10% damage
  • Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5% damage
  • Bolt Carbine: +15% damage
  • Oculus Bolt Carbine: +15% damage
  • Heavy Bolter: +5% damage (x2)

Grigorenko concluded, "We'll continue monitoring feedback after Patch 4.1 to ensure Lethal difficulty remains appropriately challenging and rewarding."
