New World of Warcraft Video Explains Feast of Winter Veil Lore

World of Warcraft's Festive Lore: A Deep Dive into the Feast of Winter Veil

World of Warcraft's annual Feast of Winter Veil celebration, a virtual Christmas event, returns with fresh rewards and activities. This year's event is even more special thanks to a collaboration with PlatinumWoW, resulting in a captivating lore video exploring the holiday's rich history.

The video unveils the fascinating origins of Winter Veil, weaving together Dwarven myths about Greatfather Winter – a Titan-forged giant who brings the snow – and Tauren traditions of reflection, renewal, and gratitude to the Earthmother. It also humorously touches upon the commercialization of the holiday by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures.

A Reindeer's Tale: The Metzen Mishaps

No Winter Veil story is complete without mentioning Metzen the Reindeer, named after the iconic Chris Metzen. The video recounts Metzen's unfortunate history of kidnappings – three times, no less – by pirates, Dark Iron dwarves, and even the Grinch! The video concludes with a hilarious twist: Metzen's thanks to viewers, voiced in the unmistakable tones of Thrall (also voiced by Chris Metzen).

PlatinumWoW: A Continuing Collaboration

This isn't PlatinumWoW's first collaboration with Blizzard. Previous projects have included lore videos on various aspects of the Warcraft universe, showcasing Blizzard's commitment to engaging with talented content creators.
