WB Reportedly Cancels Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Paid DLC

by Patrick Mar 29,2025

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has canceled an unannounced paid DLC for its popular game, *Hogwarts Legacy*. The planned story expansion was set to release this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel the DLC came after concerns arose that "the amount of content was not substantial enough to justify the price being considered," as reported by Bloomberg. Warner Bros. declined to comment on the matter when approached by the publication.

This cancellation comes amidst a broader restructuring within Warner Bros.' gaming division, which has been grappling with financial difficulties. Earlier this year, the company made significant moves by canceling its planned Wonder Woman game and shutting down the studio behind it, Monolith Productions, along with WB San Diego and the MultiVersus studio, Player First Games. Additionally, layoffs occurred at Rocksteady as recently as last September.

Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the importance of *Hogwarts Legacy* and the Harry Potter franchise as key assets. The company has declared that a sequel to the game is "one of the biggest priorities," reflecting its strategy to focus on fewer but larger franchises. The success of the initial release, which has sold over 30 million copies, underscores the franchise's significant market impact and potential for future development.
