Japanese Mahjong offers an engaging and strategic gameplay experience, following traditional Japanese rules. To play, you'll interact with the game through a slider on the screen to select and then tap to discard tiles. The ultimate goal in Mahjong is to complete a winning hand consisting of four Melds and one Pair. An example of a winning hand could look like this: \[1, 2, 3\]\[6, 6, 6\]\[6, 7, 8\]\[N, N, N\]\[4, 4\].
It's important to be aware that certain combinations, specifically those involving Chi, Pon, and Open Kan, may not be valid for completing a hand. For instance, using the numbers 1 and 9 in Chi or Pon might invalidate your hand. In Japanese Mahjong, at least one valid hand is necessary to win.
Players can enhance their hand by declaring a Reach, which costs 1,000 points. However, Reach cannot be declared if you've already used Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. Keeping your hand closed can lead to higher scoring opportunities.
Understanding the concept of a Lost Hand is crucial. A Lost Hand occurs when you're Waiting to win but can't claim victory from another player's discard because you've already discarded a winning tile yourself. Even with a Lost Hand, you can still win through self-draw. The key strategy here is to never allow another player to win with a tile you've discarded. Always be mindful of other players' discards to strategize and secure your win.
