Application Description

Control your device effortlessly with switches or the front camera for a more accessible interaction experience. Switch Access allows you to navigate and use your Android phone or tablet using one or more switches, making it an excellent option if direct touchscreen interaction is challenging.

Getting Started:

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Accessibility > Switch Access.

Setting Up a Switch:

Switch Access scans your screen, highlighting items until you select one. You have several switch options:

  • Physical switches:

    • USB or Bluetooth switches, such as buttons or keyboards.
    • On-device switches, like volume buttons.
  • Camera switches:

    • Use facial gestures like opening your mouth, smiling, or raising your eyebrows.
    • Look left, right, or up to control your device.

Scanning Your Device:

Once your switch is set up, you can interact with your screen using various scanning methods:

  • Linear scanning: Move through items sequentially.
  • Row-column scanning: Scan rows first, then items within the selected row.
  • Point scanning: Use moving lines to pinpoint a specific location and press "Select".
  • Group selection: Assign switches to color groups. Items are color-coded, and you select based on the color around your desired item, narrowing down your choice.

Using Menus:

When an item is selected, a menu appears with options like select, scroll, copy, paste, and more. Additionally, a top-screen menu helps you navigate your device, allowing actions such as opening notifications, accessing the home screen, and adjusting volume.

Navigating with Camera Switches:

Utilize Camera Switches to control your phone through facial gestures. Browse and select apps using your device's front camera. Customize the sensitivity and duration of each gesture to suit your preferences.

Recording Shortcuts:

You can record touch gestures and assign them to a switch or access them from a menu. These can include pinching, zooming, scrolling, swiping, and double-tapping. This feature simplifies executing frequent or complex actions, such as turning two pages of an ebook with a single switch.

  • Accessibility Service: As an accessibility service, this app can observe your actions, retrieve window content, and monitor typed text.
