Laut Google Patents erhielt Sunborn ein Patent für seine „Stocking Object Rendering Method and Apparatus“, das die Lücke zwischen realistisch gerenderten Strümpfen und eher cartoonhaften Strümpfen schließt. Mit diesem Ansatz verbesserten sie auch die Animationsphysik der Strümpfe.
Sunborns Rendering-Methode erreicht die „Hochglanztextur echter Strümpfe“ und vermeidet das häufige Problem, dass sie wie Metall oder Kunststoff aussehen.
