La suite Cyberpunk 2077 de CD Projekt, Codedamed Project Orion, reste enveloppée de mystère, mais le créateur de cyberpunk Mike Pondsmith a révélé de nouveaux détails. Pondsmith, qui a collaboré en étroite collaboration avec CD Projekt sur le blockbuster Cyberpunk 2077 et a joué un rôle important dans sa promotion menant à sa sortie en 2020, a partagé des informations sur son implication avec Project Orion lors de la conférence Digital Dragons 2025.
Pondsmith a mentionné que bien qu'il ne soit pas aussi profondément impliqué cette fois, il passe en revue les scripts et a visité CD Projekt pour observer le développement en cours. Il a raconté une récente visite où il a interagi avec divers départements et a offert des commentaires sur des éléments comme le nouveau cyberware.
La révélation la plus intrigante concernait le cadre de la suite: Project Orion présentera une toute nouvelle ville aux côtés de la ville familière de Night City de Cyberpunk 2077. Pondsmith a comparé cette nouvelle ville à "Chicago a mal tourné". Il a souligné que cette nouvelle ville évoque une ambiance urbaine différente et granuleuse.
Il est important de clarifier que les commentaires de Pondsmith font allusion à une ville avec une sensation de Chicago plutôt que de confirmer un cadre futuriste de Chicago. Il y a des spéculations en cours pour savoir si la suite se développera sur la Night City existante ou introduira une version entièrement nouvelle, et quelle part de ces villes sera jouable. Bien que CD Projekt se concentre actuellement sur le Witcher 4, ils ont créé un nouveau studio à Boston dédié à Project Orion. Plus tôt cette année, CD Projekt a révélé que 84 de leurs 707 membres du personnel travaillent sur Project Orion, qui est toujours à son stade conceptuel. Compte tenu de son développement précoce, des changements importants sont probables et les fans ne devraient pas s'attendre à ce que le jeu se lance de sitôt.
De plus, un nouveau projet d'animation cyberpunk est en préparation pour Netflix, après le succès de Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Dans un avenir proche, Cyberpunk 2077 devrait également être lancé sur le Nintendo Switch 2, élargissant encore sa portée.
