by Liam May 02,2025

The PlayStation Portal, never before discounted, is now available at a reduced price through Amazon Resale. You can snag a Used: Like New condition PS Portal for just $150.23, shipped. This represents a 25% savings off the original retail price of $199. While a Sony warranty may not be included, Amazon Resale items are covered by the same 30-day return policy as new purchases. Given the popularity of this deal, we anticipate these units will sell out quickly.

Update: The price has now dropped to $150.23, marking the lowest price we've seen for a Used: Like New unit.

This device looks and functions as if it were new, though moderate packing damage was observed during inspection.

The PS Portal, designed as a handheld gaming accessory for the PS5, resembles an extended split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen. It transforms your PS5 into a portable gaming device by streaming games at up to 60fps. The controller retains the DualSense's features like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface in place of the traditional touchpad. For streaming games outside your home, a very stable and fast internet connection is essential. Remember, the PS Portal isn't a standalone device; it requires a PS5 to operate.

Update: You no longer need a PS5 to enjoy games on the PS Portal. Sony has introduced a feature allowing owners to stream games directly from PlayStation Now cloud streaming service. This means you can access over 120 games, including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, without a PS5. To use this feature, you must subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, which costs $18 a month—a more budget-friendly option than purchasing a PS5 and additional games.

While the PS Portal offers a convenient way to stream PS5 games over Wi-Fi, similar functionality can be achieved by using the PS Remote Play app on other mobile devices or gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, setting this up is more complex, and you might miss out on some of the DualSense's unique features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy

"The PlayStation Portal surprised me in the best way possible. Initially skeptical, I found it offers a significantly better experience than using a phone with a controller attachment. The freedom to play my PS5 games anywhere with decent WiFi has been a game-changer, especially when the TV is occupied by other family members playing the Switch. However, it's important to note that the PS Portal is not a standalone device and requires a PS5 to function. Its limitations include the inability to connect to WiFi networks that require a web browser login and the lack of Bluetooth audio support. Despite these drawbacks, it's the best solution for PlayStation Remote Play currently available and a must-own for PS5 owners interested in handheld gaming or needing to share their TV."
