Eclipse Glow Games, in a recent Wccftech interview, revealed the inspiration behind Tides of Annihilation's Arthurian setting and London backdrop. The game's Western focus, they explained, stemmed from Tencent's strategic direction. While Black Myth: Wukong targeted the Chinese market, Tides of Annihilation was designed to appeal to a Western audience, hence the Arthurian legend choice. The core concept revolves around knights, culminating in the iconic King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

The game unfolds in a post-apocalyptic London, devastated by an Outworld invasion, with Gwendolyn as seemingly the last human survivor. This modern-day setting blends seamlessly with fantasy elements directly inspired by Arthurian mythology.

Tides of Annihilation's combat system draws clear inspiration from Devil May Cry, offering customizable playstyles with four weapons and over ten knight companions. Gwendolyn's ability to command the Knights of the Round Table adds a unique strategic layer to the gameplay. Players will face over 30 bosses, each with unique challenges, promising intense and rewarding battles. The developers emphasize accessibility, incorporating adjustable difficulty settings to cater to a broader player base.

Eclipse Glow Games hinted at the possibility of expanding the franchise into an anthology, featuring different settings, mythologies, and protagonists, while retaining the core Outworld invasion concept. The success of Tides of Annihilation will be crucial in determining the future of this potential anthology.
Currently in beta, Tides of Annihilation is slated for a tentative 2026 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players will follow Gwendolyn's journey as she confronts destiny and battles to save London and the intertwined realms of reality and Avalon.
