Ubisoft's latest addition to the beloved stealth-action open-world series, Assassin's Creed Shadows, has finally arrived. With over 30 games released under the Assassin's Creed banner, we're focusing on the mainline entries, excluding mobile, side-scrolling, VR, and spin-offs like Bloodlines or Liberation. From Desmond Miles stepping into the Animus as Altaïr in 2007, to now exploring 16th-century Japan with Naoe and Yasuke, the series has evolved significantly over 18 years. Assassin's Creed Shadows marks the 14th core installment, and I've taken the liberty to rank them based on my personal enjoyment using an IGN Tier List.

In my tier list, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag stands out as my top pick, nestled in the S-tier. The blend of island exploration, thrilling ship combat, and a vibrant cast of characters offers what I believe is the quintessential Assassin's Creed experience. It's joined by Assassin's Creed 2, the game that truly propelled the series to fame. In the A-tier, I've placed Valhalla, which might surprise some, but the Viking-inspired combat and addictive Orlog minigame won me over. Unity also sits here, its stunning recreation of French Revolution-era Paris still impressing a decade on.
Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you find Valhalla overly expansive or believe Assassin's Creed 2 is overrated? You have the chance to create your own tier list, categorizing the mainline Assassin's Creed games into S, A, B, C, and D tiers, and compare your choices with the IGN community.
Are you enjoying Assassin's Creed Shadows? Where do you think the series should venture next? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let us know why you've ranked the games the way you have.
