I recommend the Animal Friends mod by annanomoly, available on Nexus Mods. This mod not only introduces an auto-petter but also an auto-feeder for your animals. To make this mod work, you'll need to install the Mods of Mistria Installer, which is essential for activating the mod.

To install the mod, follow these steps:

1. Create a new folder named "Mods" in your *Fields of Mistria* directory.
2. Download the AnimalFriends.zip file and place it in the Mods folder.
3. Extract the contents of the zip file.
4. Delete or move the original zip file to another location.
5. Run the Mods of Mistria Installer to complete the installation.

The Animal Friends mod comes with several features you can customize. In addition to the auto-petter, you can enable the auto-feeder, a friendship multiplier, and prevent friendship loss. The friendship multiplier increases the heart points your animals gain, while the prevent friendship loss feature ensures that these points don't decrease over time.
