• Larian Studios, creators of Divinity: Original Sin, announced Baldur’s Gate 3 at Google’s first Stadia Connect event. This continues the classic Baldur’s Gate series, originally launched by BioWare in 1998, followed by Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn in 2000.

October 6, 2020

• A year after its announcement, Baldur’s Gate 3 entered early access on Steam, GOG, and Google Stadia. This followed several delays from the initially projected mid-2020 release.

The early access version included the first act, a customizable protagonist, and five playable origin characters: Astarion, Gale, Lae'zel, Shadowheart, and Wyll.
