Beginner's Guide to Ultimate Build Defense

by Simon May 25,2025

*Build Defense* is an engaging *Roblox* game where you're tasked with constructing a base using blocks while fending off various threats such as monster attacks, tornadoes, bombs, or even alien invasions. At a first glance, it might remind you of *Minecraft* with an added twist, but it actually shares more in common with the original *Fortnite*—a throwback for those who remember it.

Regardless of its inspirations, *Build Defense* offers a thrilling experience, yet it comes with a learning curve. That's why we've created this Beginner's Guide to help you navigate the game and enhance your gameplay.

Build Defense Beginner's Guide

Below, we've outlined several key tips that we wish we knew when we first started playing. Implementing these strategies can significantly increase your enjoyment and progression speed in the game.

The object of the game is to survive...

When you're thrown into your world and onto your plot of land, you might assume the goal is to keep your plot safe. But that's not quite right! **The true objective is to survive, or simply put, not to die.** The game will hurl various dangers at you, and it's your job to endure them. Ideally, you should do this at your plot by constructing a defensive structure, but you can also just roam around the world until the danger passes (yes, we've tried it, and it works surprisingly well). **Each time you survive, you earn a "Win"** and some in-game currency. **Collecting Wins is key to progressing in the game.** In essence, keep an eye on the screen messages, and focus on staying alive. With that in mind...

...dying is completely normal

**Don't fret if you die.** It's a common occurrence. Trust us, it will happen frequently, but the repercussions are minimal. You'll respawn instantly, lose your items, and fail the current wave of enemies, but these setbacks aren't catastrophic.

**You can repurchase your weapons and items**; the monsters and disasters **can't destroy your structures**, and another wave of attacks will come every two minutes, giving you another chance. In short, **the only thing you really lose is a bit of time**, which isn't a big deal.

Build high, not low

Initially, we thought that building a wall around our plot would be a good defense against monsters, but that approach wasn't very effective. We needed a way to enter and exit our base, which the monsters exploited to get in.

A more effective strategy is to **construct a set of stairs that reach high into the sky and build a platform at the top**. When night falls, you can simply climb up and wait it out. Monsters attempting to climb the steep stairs will likely fall, and those who reach the top should be met with a **barrage of turrets**. This setup is nearly foolproof and will help you survive most nights.

Don't just build, explore!

You've likely noticed that there's **a lot to do on the island** beyond just your plot. You can visit other players, sell your ores, and **even complete quests**. Most of these require a certain number of Wins to unlock, but some, like the **Gingerbread's House quest**, are available from the start. Completing these quests is beneficial as they can unlock many cool new building components.

The "Shop" isn't just for premium items

As you progress, don't forget to explore the Shop. **Most items can be purchased with in-game currency.** You'll need to accumulate a good number of Wins first, so play the game for a while before diving into the Shop. Also, remember to join the Swiftplay Roblox group and like, favorite, and follow the game to receive a free gift.

When you're ready, move to the next area

Once you've earned enough Wins (190), you can move to the next area and start the cycle anew. You'll encounter new disasters, quests, and building opportunities.

**That's the gist of it. Enjoy surviving and building in *Build Defense*. Don't forget to check out our *Build Defense* codes for some awesome in-game freebies.**
