Capcom's recent update to the iOS and iPadOS versions of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Resident Evil Village has introduced a frustrating change: mandatory online DRM. Previously offline-playable, these premium-priced ports now require an internet connection to verify ownership upon launch. This means a short delay before accessing your saved game, and more importantly, the inability to play offline.

This unwelcome addition significantly diminishes the user experience. While some may not be bothered, the forced online check on every launch is a considerable drawback for a game already purchased. The update removes a key benefit: offline play. Hopefully, Capcom will reconsider this implementation and find a less intrusive method of purchase verification. This situation makes recommending these otherwise excellent ports more challenging.

What are your thoughts on this update, especially if you own these Resident Evil games on iOS?
