Known Habitats: Oilwell Basin

Breakable Parts: Head and Arm

Recommended Elemental Attack: Water

Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (1x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (2x)

Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Shock Trap

Attack the Tentacles

Facing Nu Udra in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is no easy feat. This monster's massive tentacles give it a wide reach, making evasion a challenge. However, these tentacles are the most accessible limbs for melee weapon users. Severing them not only grants extra materials but also weakens the monster. Be cautious, though, as these limbs are powerful weapons in their own right.

Aim for the Mouth

Ranged weapon users have more options, but targeting Nu Udra's mouth is crucial due to its 4-star weakness. Locating it can be tough amidst the monster's nearly pitch-black skin. The head is another viable target, albeit with a 3-star weakness to ammo damage. It remains an excellent spot for blunt and cut damage.

Use Watermoss

Nu Udra's fire affinity in *Monster Hunter Wilds* makes it a dangerous foe. Beyond its limb attacks, it can unleash fiery assaults, even igniting itself to inflict the Fireblight debuff. To mitigate this threat, use Watermoss to douse the flames and attack safely.

Wear Fire Resistant Gear

If you're struggling in the fight, equipping gear with fire resistance is essential. The Quematrice armor set is highly recommended due to its Fire Resistance skill. Enhance your defense further with decorations like the Fire Res Jewel to reduce fire damage, or the Stream Jewel to boost your water attack capabilities.

Beware of Grab Attacks

Nu Udra's grab attack is particularly deadly. If caught by its tentacles, you'll face a fiery blast after a brief pause. To escape, use a knife to break free or target its weak spot with a Slinger during this window.

Capturing Nu Udra requires preparation with either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, you must first weaken the monster until it's nearly dead, indicated by a skull icon next to its boss icon. You can lure it into the trap using meat as bait or by positioning yourself strategically. Once trapped, swiftly use a Tranquilizer to put it to sleep—you have only about five seconds before it breaks free.

This guide covers everything you need to know about defeating and capturing Nu Udra in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Given the challenge of facing this monster alone, consider using multiplayer for support.
