Beginner’s Guide for Dead Sails

dead-sails-beginners-guide-boat-dayScreenshot by The Escapist. New to Dead Sails? No worries! Like its predecessor Dead Rails, the game is pretty straightforward—literally. You're the captain of a ship tasked with sailing a straight line for 10 thousand meters between towns, aiming for the ultimate goal of 100k meters sailed. Just keep moving, maintain your fuel, and stay alive. Sounds easy, right?

Before You Set Sail

The in-game lobby before starting your adventure can be a treasure trove of helpful resources, though it comes at a cost. As a new player, you start with 15 Dabloons, the game's currency. While it's tempting to splurge on boats or items like bandages and weapons, remember you'll find plenty of these in-game. Save your Dabloons for something more impactful.

How To Choose A Class

These are in-game perks you can purchase through a loot box system, costing 3 Dabloons each. You might get your preferred class on the first try, or it might take a few attempts. Dead Sails offers a variety of Common and Uncommon classes, like Pirate and Gunslinger. Your choice should align with your playstyle. What To Do In Towns

  • Trading Hut: Sell items you've collected.
  • General Store: Stock up on essentials for your journey.
  • Hospital: Heal up.
  • Gun Shop: Buy firearms and ammo.
  • Sheriff’s Office: Earn bounty money from pirate and creature corpses.

Starting with a blunt weapon like a pickaxe or hammer, there's no rush to buy a firearm. Instead, focus on purchasing coal—spend all your money on it. Fuel is crucial in Dead Sails, as the game ends if you can't move your ship forward.

Dead Sails Tips & Tricks

The gameplay is simple but filled with interesting encounters and undead threats. Here are the key tips to master Dead Sails:

Tips For Never Running Out Of Fuel

Explore to find various collectible items marked as "fuel," though they only add 5% to your tank. For maximum efficiency, use the corpses of the undead you defeat—they can be stored in your inventory and used as fuel.

How To Survive The Night

The ideal scenario is to spend the night in town for safety. If that's not possible, buy Barbed Wire from a shop to mount on your ship, preventing mobs from getting close. Without Barbed Wire, pause your journey and attack any approaching creatures.

Which Weapon To Choose

A shotgun is your best bet due to its high damage output, perfect for unexpected combat situations. Early in the game, a revolver is a good starter firearm, often found in buildings, helping you get accustomed to shooting.

Best Items To Collect

  • Moyai and Bars: Available in diamond, gold, and silver, these are lucrative for earning money.
  • Healing Packs: Best to keep for personal use, but can be sold if needed.
  • Crosses: Sell for 35 cash or use against the undead.
  • Weapons: Keep for use or sell if unnecessary.
  • Robot Head: Found in houses and banks, sells for 45 cash.
  • Holy Water: Typically found in churches, sells for 25 cash.
  • Gold Llama: Rare and valuable, selling for 150 cash.

Remember, you can stack items on your boat, but they'll fall off if not welded down. Place an item and press the weld button (Z on the keyboard) to secure it.

And that's your beginner's guide to Dead Sails! Follow these tips, and you'll soon be the best captain to ever sail these treacherous waters. For an extra edge, don't forget to check out our Dead Sails codes.
