A Kindling Forest: A Solo Developer's Clever Auto-Runner
Dennis Berndtsson, a high school teacher and solo game developer, presents his latest creation: A Kindling Forest. This isn't your average action-adventure; it's a side-scrolling auto-runner brimming with inventive mechanics. Prepare for a journey filled with forests, arrows, and plenty of lava!
An ancient demon unleashes chaos upon the world, prompting forest spirits to awaken a long-forgotten archer. Armed with a bow and arrow, the archer embarks on a perilous quest to vanquish the demon. But A Kindling Forest is far from simple.
Constant motion is the name of the game. The screen scrolls relentlessly, presenting a barrage of sharp, irregularly shaped obstacles. Players must skillfully dodge or shoot these hazards using their arrows – their only lifeline. Running out of arrows means game over, making every shot crucial.
The game features five increasingly challenging levels. Players will navigate treacherous terrain, leaping over spiders, teleporting through ancient ruins, soaring through the clouds, and even dodging rivers of lava. Strategically placed checkpoints offer a chance to recover from mistakes and refine gameplay.
A unique split-screen design enhances the gameplay. One half of the screen controls jumping, while the other handles aiming and shooting. Precise timing is key, and a helpful slow-motion effect aids in aiming.

A Kindling Forest is available now on the Google Play Store for $0.99.
