DOOM: The Dark Ages Will Introduce Its Own Marauder

by Anthony Apr 12,2025

Introducing Agadon the Hunter, a fresh adversary set to replace the Marauder in *DOOM: The Dark Ages*. Unlike a mere upgrade, Agadon is a wholly distinct enemy, blending attributes from multiple bosses into one formidable foe. He boasts the ability to dodge, evade, and even deflect the Doom Slayer's projectiles. This boss will challenge players with a range of combo attacks, necessitating the use of a sawtooth shield reminiscent of *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*—a clear nod to the developers' inspirations. Facing Agadon will be the ultimate test, a final exam of sorts, where players must apply all the skills they've honed throughout the game.

The developers have chosen to maintain the concept of a challenging boss similar to the Marauder, confident that players are eager for an even greater challenge. The previous issue wasn't with the difficulty mechanics themselves, but rather their presentation and the lack of clear explanation. Many elements needed to defeat the Marauder were not introduced earlier in the campaign, causing frustration among players due to the sudden shift in gameplay. A more gradual introduction of mechanics and enhanced player preparation are set to rectify these issues.

*DOOM: The Dark Ages* is slated for release on May 15, 2025, and will be available on current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series) and PC (Steam).
