⚫︎ Funcom has assured players that they are taking measures to prevent server issues at Dune: Awakening's launch, leveraging their experience from previous MMO launches. The studio plans to deploy thousands of servers, dubbed Hagga Basins, each designed to handle 40 concurrent players but able to accommodate several hundred accounts due to player fluctuation. Should a Hagga Basin approach full capacity, a server queue will manage player entry, ensuring a seamless experience. Funcom is ready to add more servers as needed to maintain stability across global regions.

⚫︎ Dune: Awakening is poised to offer a groundbreaking experience with its integration of NVIDIA DLSS 4 technology and next-generation Razer Chroma and Haptics. Announced at CES 2025, the game will leverage NVIDIA’s Multi Frame Generation for enhanced performance and visual quality, vividly bringing Arrakis to life. Additionally, Razer’s haptic devices and synchronized lighting will immerse players in the world of Arrakis, allowing them to feel sandworm vibrations, sandstorm winds, and combat intensity in real-time.
⚫︎ In a November developer update, the Q&A for Dune: Awakening provided insights into gameplay mechanics. Shields, powered by Holtzman tech, offer protection against fast projectiles but are susceptible to slow melee attacks, poison, and fire, and their vibrations can attract sandworms. Crafting these shields requires rare parts found at specific locations like Imperial Testing Stations. While the game primarily uses third-person perspective, certain tools like binoculars and scopes provide first-person views.
Vehicles, which can be crafted or discovered, feature customizable access permissions and can be secured with a vehicle backup tool. Although sandworm riding won't be available at launch, developers plan to introduce it meaningfully later. Players will progress by earning experience through exploration and completing contracts, unlocking abilities, crafting recipes, and skills, including those taught by Wandering Masters like Bene Gesserit techniques.
