Fans Pick Yakuza Merch: Cult Clothes, Traffic Cones, and More Oddities

The iconic Yakuza / Like a Dragon series is hitting its 20th anniversary this year, and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is getting fans involved in the celebration. They're letting enthusiasts decide on the next official merchandise by voting from a selection of 100 unique items. The top two fan-favorite choices will hit the market within the next two years. While the voting is only listed in Japanese, fans can cast their votes on the official website.

The merchandise ranges from the conventional, like a 20th anniversary celebration hoodie and a Yakuza-themed pencil case, to the downright bizarre, echoing the series' famously wild nature. Among the options are the cult outfit of Munan Suzuki from Yakuza 0, the oversized traffic cone Majima uses to ambush Kiryu in Yakuza Kiwami, and the intriguing "Puffy Gold Pants."

Other quirky items up for vote include the sake Majima sips in a shack in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's golden watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the tambourine Kashiwagi uses during karaoke in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prisoner uniform from Yakuza 4, to name just a few.

In addition to the merchandise excitement, fans can look forward to a new entry in the series this anniversary year. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is set to launch on February 21, 2025. While Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio previously celebrated the 10th anniversary with the release of the beloved prequel Yakuza 0, no similar announcements have been made for later in the year. However, given RGG Studio's track record of rapid development, releasing multiple games in a single year isn't out of the question. Over the last five years, they've managed to release nine games, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, and two Super Monkey Ball titles, along with an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5.
