God of War Ragnarok releases on PC to mixed reviews GoW fans send Sony into chaos over PSN demands
Following the recent release of God of War Ragnarok on PC Steam, the The game received "mixed" user ratings. God of War Ragnarok has been review-bombed on Steam by scores of fans in response to requests to play the game on Sony's much-hated PlayStation Network (PSN) account. Just released on PC last week and still going strong, God of War Ragnarok currently sits at a 6/10 on the platform.
Sony announced that God of War Ragnarok will require a PSN account to play the single-player action-adventure game on PC, surprising many fans and seemingly inspiring the recent bombardment of negative reviews for the game on the platform .
While players have left negative reviews, some say they are able to play the game without linking a PSN account. One player wrote, "I understand why people are upset about the PlayStation account thing. It sucks when developers put online features into single player games. But I don't even understand because I can play without logging in It's great to play. It's bad because those comments turn people away from an incredible game." requirement kills the excitement, launched the game and even logged in but it gets stuck on the Black screen, didn't play the game but it shows i played it for 1 hour 40 minutes, how ridiculous that can be," another player noted in their review on Steam.
However, despite the backlash, there are players that have left positive reviews on the game, commenting that they've enjoyed their experience playing it and additionally concluding that the negative reviews are caused merely by Sony's decision. "Good story as expected. Players are giving negative reviews mostly for PSN. Sony has to look carefully now into this matter. Otherwise the game is top notch in PC to play," one player commented.
Sony faced a similar situation with Helldivers 2 in the past months when it required a PSN account to play its shooter title developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. Consequently, Sony backtracked on its decision following widespread backlash and canceled Helldiver's 2 PSN account linking requirement.
