Horizon Zero Dawn: Exploit Unlocks Dual Outfit Effects

Master the Art of Dual Outfit Effects in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

While Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered prioritizes action gameplay, its weapon and outfit customization is substantial. You can craft outfits ideal for stealth, melee, or ranged combat. This guide details how to combine the benefits of multiple outfits, though with limitations.

Remastered Version Required

The dual outfit effect is exclusive to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. A recent patch introduced transmog, enabling you to retain one outfit's stats while visually wearing another. This eliminates the need to compromise aesthetics for optimal stats.

Outfit Requirements

This technique isn't universal. While your primary outfit is your choice, the secondary (for visual transmog) must be one of these:

  • Banuk Werak Runner
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (New Game Plus only)

These outfits are located in the Frozen Wilds DLC, accessible before completing the main game.

Acquiring the Banuk Werak Outfits

Banuk Werak Runner

Reach the Frozen Wilds by defeating the new machine (adjust difficulty or upgrade gear if needed). Locate a Bluegleam Merchant (blue merchant icon) and purchase the Banuk Werak Runner outfit.

Resource Normal Cost Ultra Hard Cost
Metal Shards 1000 5000
Desert Glass 10 20
Slagshine Glass 10 20

Banuk Werak Chieftain & Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept

Complete the "For the Werak" quest (Frozen Wilds' third main quest). Consider lowering the difficulty for easier completion. The Adept version is available only in NG+.

Combining Outfit Effects

Equip your desired outfit (optimizing stats with Weaves). Use the transmog feature to apply the appearance of one of the three Banuk Werak outfits. While these offer no additional stats, they provide passive healing after taking damage.

This allows you to retain your outfit's stats while gaining the auto-healing benefit. The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept offer faster healing than the Runner. Combining this with the Shield Weaver outfit makes you nearly invincible.
