inZOI Developers Responded to Questions About Explicit Content

There Will Be "Sort Of" A Sex Feature

As inZOI approaches its early access launch, the community's curiosity about the game's features, particularly around sex and nudity, has been addressed directly by the developers. During a live "Ask Me (almost) Anything" session on inZOI’s official Discord, translated by Assistant Director Joel Lee, the team delved into these sensitive topics.

The developers confirmed the inclusion of a sex feature, though with a caveat. Joel Lee explained, "Our answer is: sort of. There is a feature in the game that you obviously know what's happening; the male Zoi and the female Zoi are together, likely in bed, with the intention of creating babies. How visually apparent is that? That's where you have to go to your imagination. What you're seeing is not what you're seeing; you have to assume that's what's happening. Is that clear enough for everyone? It's there. Sort of. Maybe not to the level that everyone would have been expecting."

This response suggests that while the feature will exist, the visual representation will be subtle, requiring players to use their imagination rather than seeing explicit content. Given inZOI's focus on realism, this approach contrasts with the more animated style seen in games like The Sims.

Blurring Effects Don’t Work Well With inZOI

Another interesting insight came from the developers' explanation of why Zois shower with their towels on. They noted that pixelated blurring effects, commonly used in more cartoony games like The Sims, do not mesh well with inZOI's realistic art style. Attempting to use these effects resulted in visuals that felt more sexually suggestive than intended.

Moreover, during testing, a bug was discovered where Zois could be seen fully naked in the mirror reflection without the visual effects, prompting the developers to address and fix this issue promptly.

Making inZOI Available to All

Despite the discussions around explicit content, inZOI has secured a T for Teen rating from the ESRB, aligning it with games like The Sims 4. This rating indicates that the game aims to be accessible to a broad audience while maintaining a safe-for-work environment.
