"Lazarus: Cowboy Bebop Creator's New Anime Debuts Tonight"

by Elijah May 04,2025

Lazarus, a groundbreaking sci-fi anime, boasts an impressive lineup of talent from the entertainment world. Directed by Shinichirō Watanabe, the mastermind behind Cowboy Bebop, Lazarus is not a revival of his previous work, as noted by critic Ryan Guar after reviewing the first five episodes. The animation is a collaboration between Mappa Studio, known for hits like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, and Sola Entertainment, creators of Tower of God. Action sequences are choreographed by Chad Stahelski, the visionary behind the John Wick series, adding a thrilling dimension to the series.

Given its stellar team and intriguing premise, it's no surprise that Adult Swim has acquired the rights to broadcast Lazarus in the U.S. at the same time as its Japanese airing. If you're eager to catch the latest episodes of this much-anticipated series, here's how you can do it:

What Is Lazarus About?

However, three years later, Dr. Skinner reveals that Hapuna has a fatal flaw: everyone who has taken it will die within three years. In response, a task force named Lazarus is assembled to stop Dr. Skinner and find a vaccine before it's too late.
