MageTrain: Fast-Paced Pixel Roguelike Now on Android

Tidepool Games has just released a thrilling new game for Android enthusiasts, titled MageTrain. If you're a fan of the classic Nimble Quest, you'll find MageTrain's gameplay strikingly familiar, as it draws significant inspiration from it.

What’s MageTrain Like?

MageTrain is an exciting blend of Snake, auto-battlers, and roguelikes. Picture this: you're in control of a line of heroes that trail behind you, much like a snake. Each hero autonomously attacks as you maneuver around the arena, adding a dynamic layer to the gameplay.

Your role involves strategic positioning—deciding who leads and who supports the team. This is crucial because each hero's abilities vary depending on their position in the train. At launch, MageTrain boasts nine unique heroes, including one who uniquely throws birds, each with distinct skills that change based on their role within the group.

Navigate through eight diverse dungeons, confront 28 different enemy types, and unlock 30 skills to enhance your team. Along the way, you'll collect gold and power-ups, keeping the gameplay engaging and rewarding. Thanks to its roguelike format, every run is unique, featuring branching paths and upgrade choices, challenging you to survive as long as you can.

The structure of MageTrain echoes that of games like Slay the Spire or FTL, with no fixed levels and no option to save progress mid-run. One wrong move or an overwhelming enemy wave can send you back to the start, but this adds to the game's replayability and challenge.

It Isn’t Slow-Paced

The beauty of MageTrain lies in the continuous improvement you experience with each run, even if you don't make it to the end. You'll quickly learn the best times to play defensively, when to go on the offensive, and when to focus purely on surviving just a bit longer.

MageTrain is now available on Android and it's free to play. Don't miss out—head over to the Google Play Store and give it a try.
