Upcoming Updates for Marvel Rivals

New Team-Up Skills and Changes

Team-Up Skill Updates Coming in Marvel Rivals Season 2

Marvel Rivals Game Director Guangyun Chen has confirmed modifications coming to team-up skills in Season 2. During a March 14 interview with PC Gamer, Chen detailed planned improvements for the game's next significant update.

He stated, "With Season 2's launch, we'll introduce fresh Team-Up skills alongside seasonal updates while refining existing ones. Combined with broader seasonal balancing, these changes will craft a renewed combat experience."

The game currently features 17 team-up abilities, including Hela's Ragnarok Rebirth with Thor/Loki, Cloak & Dagger's Lunar Force with Moon Knight, and Hawkeye/Black Widow's Allied Agents. NetEase faces growing challenges implementing these adjustments given the expanding hero roster's impact on gameplay balance.

Balancing Heroes

Hero Balancing Approach for Marvel Rivals Season 2

Chen explained the team's methodology for maintaining hero balance during roster expansion: "We meticulously track key performance indicators across all gameplay modes. For both Quick Match and Competitive Play, we analyze win rates, selection frequencies, damage output, healing statistics, damage absorption, and elimination counts across various skill tiers and tournaments."

He continued, "Simultaneously, we evaluate hero team compositions and their associated success rates within these modes, which significantly informs our balancing strategy. Player community feedback remains another crucial factor in our decision-making process."

Chen previously revealed in a January interview with Metro that the game will introduce a new character every half-season. With three-month seasons, this translates to approximately eight new heroes annually. As the roster expands, maintaining balanced gameplay becomes increasingly complex for developers.

Regarding development progress, Chen noted, "Season 2 content is complete and prepared for launch. Seasons 3 and 4 designs are finalized and currently in active development. All projects are advancing smoothly." This commitment aligns with NetEase's promise to support Marvel Rivals for at least a decade, ensuring long-term content delivery.

Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Iron Man Arriving March 20

NetEase announced via Marvel Rivals' Twitter account on March 18 that new Spiderman and Iron Man skins will debut on March 20 at 7 PM PDT/10 PM EDT (March 21 at 2:00 AM UTC). Spiderman's futuristic "Spider-Punk 2099" skin features a digital mask and mohawk while wielding an electric guitar. Iron Man's "Steam Power" variant adopts a steampunk design complete with prominent exhaust piping and a torso-mounted furnace.

Fans eagerly anticipated these cosmetics since their appearance during closed beta testing. Following Loki's Presidential attire release from beta, these skins mark continued delivery of previously seen content. While NetEase confirmed the release date, pricing details remain undisclosed.

As Season 1 concludes, NetEase prepares for Season 2's comprehensive updates. Marvel Rivals is accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. For the latest Marvel Rivals news, explore our related coverage below.
