Marvel Rivals: A Strategist's Guide to Support Characters

In Marvel Rivals, while damage-dealing (DPS) units often steal the spotlight, strategic support characters are crucial for team survival. This guide ranks the seven available support units, focusing on their healing and buffing capabilities. While Jeff the Land Shark enjoys popularity, he's not the only, or necessarily the best, option.

Mantis excels at healing and buffing. Her orb-based system allows for both self-healing and damage amplification, regenerating automatically over time. Headshots provide an instant orb refill, rewarding skilled players while remaining accessible to beginners. Her fragility necessitates careful positioning.

Luna Snow offers versatile support. Her primary attack heals allies while also damaging enemies. Her Ice Art ability enhances healing and damage output, and her Ultimate, Fate of Both Worlds, provides AoE healing or damage, depending on target proximity. Her straightforward gameplay makes her ideal for new players, though her damage potential remains secondary to her support role.

A Tier

Adam Warlock and Cloack & Dagger

Adam Warlock's standout ability is his multi-teammate revive. His Ultimate, the Quantum Zone, brings back fallen allies with temporary invincibility, even allowing for multiple revives of the same character. His Avatar Life Stream heals, and Soul Bond distributes damage and provides a heal-over-time effect.

Cloak & Dagger offers a dual approach. Cloak's attack heals allies or damages enemies, with self-sustaining healing capabilities. Dagger focuses on damage and applying Vulnerability debuffs. Dark Teleportation boosts ally movement speed and provides invisibility.

B Tier

Rocket Raccoon, Jeff, and Loki in Marvel Rivals.

Jeff the Land Shark, while popular, possesses less potent healing compared to higher-tier characters, struggling in extended battles. His simplicity makes him beginner-friendly, but his limited kit pales in comparison to Mantis or Warlock.

Loki's effectiveness hinges on player skill and strategy. He heals allies and summons tactical decoys, demanding precise positioning to maximize impact. His Ultimate allows shapeshifting into any hero for 15 seconds, utilizing their abilities.

Rocket Raccoon prioritizes utility and damage over pure healing. His Respawn Machine revives allies, but his kit leans toward offensive capabilities, making him a hybrid DPS/support. His small size and fragility require strategic maneuvering.

Ultimately, character selection should prioritize enjoyment. This ranking provides a helpful guide, but individual playstyle should be the deciding factor.

Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
