Survival of the Fittest is one of the most challenging challenges in Phasmophobia. Players are stripped of traditional evidence-gathering tools and forced to identify the ghost solely through its behavior. This nerve-wracking test takes place at 42 Edgefield Road, a cramped house-style map known for its narrow hallways and tricky corners.

Upon arrival, players will notice that traditional tools like Ghost Writing Books and DOTs Projectors are unavailable. Instead, you’ll need to rely on unique tools and keen observation skills. For instance, the Parabolic Microphone can pick up distinctive sounds, such as the screams of a Banshee or the footsteps of a Myling. Salt sprinkled on the ground can help identify a Wraith, while lighting three Firelights in succession might reveal an Onyro. This challenge begins with zero sanity and no setup time (technically five seconds). Sanitation cannot be restored, even with the two provided Sanity Medications. To make matters worse, the ghost remains highly active throughout the challenge, with frequent events keeping the pressure high. Despite the chaos, these events can still provide valuable clues about the ghost’s identity.

The house features nine hiding spots, giving you ample opportunities to evade the ghost during hunts. Additionally, the fuse box will be functional and turned on, a rare advantage in these challenges. Most doors will start partially open, making it harder to track the ghost’s location. However, this also increases the tension as you navigate the tight space.

To aid in your investigation, you’ll have access to one Cursed Possession—the Monkey Paw. Using it to “wish for knowledge” can burn out incorrect evidences and ghost types in your Journal, narrowing down the possibilities. However, this comes with significant risks, including blindness, deafness, and triggering a Cursed Hunt. For solo players, we recommend using this tactic cautiously, as it can leave you vulnerable. In multiplayer, one player can act as a decoy to minimize risk.

How to Access Challenge Mode in Phasmophobia

Challenge Mode is accessed via the Difficulty Settings in the Main Menu. First, select Singleplayer or Multiplayer to create a lobby. Then, navigate to the Difficulty tab above your character ID. Scroll through the options until you find Challenge Mode and apply it. Remember to select 42 Edgefield Road on the Maps board, as the challenge requires you to complete it at this specific location.

To earn the full reward ($5,000 base), you must successfully identify the ghost during three separate investigations at the same location.

When Does The Next Weekly Challenge Start in Phasmophobia?

The Weekly Challenge resets every Monday at Midnight UTC. However, players in North America can join early on Sunday evenings:

Remember, you must finish your challenge before the server reset to qualify for the reward.
